The DCDC

The Dormont Community Development Corporation:

The Dormont Community Development Corporation (DCDC) is the non-profit, corporate home of the Main Street Program in Dormont. Originally incorporated in 1980 with goals very compatible to those of the National Main Street program, the recently dormant DCDC was reengaged in 2007. The board of directors adopted changes to the organization's bylaws and articles of incorporation in order to facilitate Federal 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. The DCDC is currently in the process of applying for official 501(c)3 status - this is necessary as a part of the national Main Street process, and is required to be able to receive many grants and donations.

The DCDC board of directors currently meets monthly and is acting as the "steering committee" to complete all of the necessary organizational tasks and paperwork required of Main Street programs. Prior to the DCDC's stewardship of the program, several folks have worked for some time to begin the Main Street process here in Dormont: many of them have accepted the additional responsibility of a position on the board. The board also always reserves a seat, complete with full voting privileges, to the current borough manager.
